COSMETIC TATTOO

At Wink Lash Studio, you can put your trust in us throughout your entire cosmetic tattooing experience.

Cosmetic tattooing balances and enhances your natural facial features, gives you more time in the morning, increases self confidence, keeps you looking younger and makes you look and feel your best.

Your Cosmetic Tattooist at Wink Lash Studio has been trained by the best globally and currently holds a Nationally Accredited Cosmetic Tattooing Licence. We only use state of the art equipment, medical grade pigments and have the highest hygiene standards.

First things first – the consultation! Please keep in mind we never perform a consultation and treatment on the same day. Due to Queensland legislation we are required to complete an in-depth consultation and obtain written consent to place an individual order for your compounded anaesthetic prior to the procedure.  This ensures your treatment is pain free and there is no contra-indications for your anaesthetic.

Your consultation will incur a $50 charge that is fully redeemable on your treatment. During your consultation, our Nationally Accredited Cosmetic Tattooist will thoroughly discuss the following and answer any of your questions:

  • What ‘look’ you’re hoping to achieve or any concerns you have about the procedure.
  • Asymmetry - correction
  • Your skin tone, eye colour and hair colour. This will help determine the perfect blend of colours for your pigment.
  • Your Cosmetic Tattooist will draw a design for you and discuss how your desired look can be achieved as well as pre and post care instructions.
  • The full procedure will also be explained. From the anaesthetic used to what you will feel during the procedure.

Next we will schedule your appointment. Your appointment can take up to 3 hours. During this time our Cosmetic Tattooist will discuss colour choice and draw on your beautiful new brow shape prior to performing your customized tattoo procedure. Our Cosmetic Tattooist will explain all the aftercare at the end of your appointment.

We provide one complimentary perfecting appointment between 4-6 weeks post initial appointment. Due to how your skin processes the pigment you can expect to lose 40-60% of the initial pigment colour, which is why you must have a perfecting appointment after the healing stage. Colour retention varies depending on the individual and client compliance of home care instructions. Some skin types may require more than one perfecting appointment, however after the first complementary perfecting appointment, any further refreshes or redesigns from 2-24 months will require an additional fee.

After achieving your desired look we recommend an annual refresh appointment to ensure longevity of your tattoo.

Our Cosmetic Tattooist has been trained in a variety of techniques including the following:

BROW AREA

MICROBLADING

For those of you who desire a more natural look, wanting to fill in sparse gaps in your brows or don’t want a full look. Microblading is a technique that uses a tiny blade made up of very fine needles to create individual hair strokes in the skin in the same way that your natural brow hair would look.

This technique would be perfect for those of you who want to ease into the cosmetic tattoo world, have sparse brows or have over plucked too much resulting in lack of hair growth in a particular area. Microblading will look as though you were born with naturally perfect brows!

POWDER BROW

For those of you who are after a fuller brow. This technique can look as full or natural you desire. The powdered technique offers a look that mimics as though you have filled your brows in with an eyebrow powder or pencil. The powder brow is performed using a tattoo machine similar to a regular tattoo machine.

This technique is perfect for those looking for more definition, wanting to cut time from their busy morning and added fullness.

OMBRE BROW

For those who desire more definition in the tails (outer brow) and a lighter more fluffy look in the inner brow. An Ombre look gradually fades from a light shade on the inner brow to a darker shade on the tails of your eyebrows, making them not look as bold as a powder brow.

This technique is perfect for those looking for definition but not as bold. Perfect to get straight out of bed and start your day!

COMBINATION BROW

For those of you wanting a natural but full look. Starting off with microblading hair strokes in the inner brow followed by machine work to powder out the outer ¾ of the brow to enhance and add depth to your beautiful brows.

DO’S AND DON’TS FOR EYEBROWS

Do not tweeze, wax, or dye brows for 2 days prior.

Wait a minimum of 4 weeks post procedure for waxing/tinting.

Electrolysis should not be done for a week prior.

LIP AREA

LIP LINER WITH BLEND

This technique is perfect for those who don’t have a very defined lip line. It may be a struggle to find where to put your lip stick on or you would like your lips to stand out a bit more than they do.

This technique is done using the tattooing machine similar to regular tattooing. Your Cosmetic tattooist will enhance your lip line and then blend the colour inward onto the lip. This enables a flawless transition of colour from your lip line inwards to make your luscious lips POP!

FULL LIP

This technique is perfect for someone wanting to add colour to his or her lips. The full lip area will be tattooed with the chosen pigment colour to make the whole lip area the desired colour.

This technique is ideal for someone who has lost colour in their lips or wants a nice colour to brighten up the face.

DO’S AND DON’TS FOR LIPS

If you get cold sores you will need an antiviral prescription. A doctor usually instructs to begin taking it 3 days before procedure the day of the procedure and 3 days after, for a 7-10-day course.

If you have had any type of lip surgery, consult with your doctor about how long you should wait before having a permanent makeup procedure on the lips. Most doctors are giving a 4-week ok after lip filler injections like collagen or Restylane. If the lip surgery involves and incision, the incision needs to mature about 6 months before tattooing on top of it.

EYE AREA

EYELINER – TOP & BOTTOM

There are different options available with eyeliner. You have the choice of having it as thick or thin as possible, as well as if you are wanting a wing (‘a wedge’) or not. You also have the option to have the eyeliner done on the top, bottom or both. Your cosmetic tattooist will show you the most flattering choice for your face and features.

This technique is perfect for those after a more defined eye, an easy guide for when you are applying the rest of your makeup or to enhance your natural look.

LASH ENHANCEMENT

This technique is done by tattooing in-between each natural eyelash to make the lashes look as though they are fuller than they are.

This technique is perfect for those who desire the look of a full and dark lash line without having to apply makeup!

DO’S AND DON’TS FOR EYELINER

No eyelash extensions for the eyeliner procedure – removal will be required the day before treatment, then re-application a minimum of 4 weeks post procedure.

Do not wear contact lens during the procedure or for 24hrs after.

Bring sunglasses to wear home. Eyes may be light sensitive.

Do not perm lashes for 4 weeks prior.

Do not dye lashes 2 days prior.

Do not use eyelash curler the day of the procedure.

If you have had any type of eye surgery, consult with your doctor about how long you should wait before having a permanent eyeliner procedure (you will require doctors clearance if within 6 months).

Most doctors are giving a 2-month ok after cataract, Lasik, and blepharoplasty.

No lash enhancing products (this includes lash growth serum) at least 4 weeks prior.

PREPARATION FOR CLIENTS HAVING COSMETIC TATTOOING

The process of getting tattooed does temporarily change the state of mind, the blood-chemistry of the recipient as well as tax the immune system somewhat during healing. Below are some practical and helpful tips and recommendations to prepare you for our cosmetic tattooing experience.

  • Arrive at your tattoo appointment well rested.
  • Eat a moderate meal a few hours prior to your appointment. Getting tattooed affects blood sugar levels.
  • No exercise the day of your procedure.
  • Avoid over-doing it on stimulants, such as caffeine. You’ll want to be able to lie calmly for several hours, so use of coffee, energy drinks etc. should be minimised on the day of your appointment.
  • Alcohol should be avoided from the night before – this will help with bleeding as alcohol thins your blood.
  • Blood thinning medications for example Warfarin, must be ceased a minimum of 72hrs prior to your procedure. You will need a medical clearance from your doctor stating that this has been allowed.
  • Blood thinning medications that do not require a prescription for example Vit E, Aspirin, Fish Oil and Ibuprofen must be ceased 72hrs prior to your procedure.
  • Cancer patients will need to obtain medical clearance from their doctor prior to having cosmetic tattooing.
  • Cancer survivors will need to wait 6 months post remission before having cosmetic tattooing performed.
  • Exposure to the sun/UV tanning bed must be a minimum of 30 days prior to procedure.
  • If you are sick, feel that you are getting sick, not quite over being sick or incur any other health issues prior to your cosmetic tattooing procedure, reschedule your appointment and give your body time to recover before getting your tattoo. As we are a small salon, this also protects us from any illness and our other clients.
  • As much as possible, try and enter into the process of getting your tattoo with a positive and relaxed state of mind.

Unfortunately Cosmetic Tattooing is not suitable for everyone. Some circumstances that prevent us from performing Cosmetic Tattooing are the following:

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
  • Chemotherapy patients
  • Keratosis
  • Diabetics
  • Seborrhoea Dermatitis
  • Extremely Sensitive Skin
  • Excessive Sebum (very oily skin)
  • Sunburnt Skin
  • Skin that has recently had any sort of laser/cosmetic treatments

*Any other serious medical condition needs a letter from your doctor providing consent for your cosmetic tattoo procedure.
